Latest news and 'Thought for the day'
Thought for the Day by Chris Dalton (BH Member) Psalm 18 is my favourite, go-to Psalm when life is difficult. There have been times when I’ve read it daily for weeks. The main thing I love about it are all the non-negotiable truths about God. Here is a list of some of the words David used to describe God... STRENGTH... ROCK... FORTRESS... DELIVERER... SHIELD... STRONGHOLD... THE MOST HIGH... SAVIOUR Non-negotiable truths about God...and because they are non-negotiable then it’s personal. Personal for David and personal for me. Given that God is so great, so dependable, so trustworthy, so strong, so powerful, so amazing and also given verse 19 where it says, “He rescued me because He delighted in me” how could it not be personal? No wonder David begins the Psalm by saying “I love You”. The Psalm has many other amazing things to say about who God is and what He has done and is doing, so I hope you’ll read it for yourself – often. I trust too, that it is already or will be soon, personal for you and that you can add that personal pronoun ‘MY’ and say along with David and with me ‘the Lord is... MY STRENGTH... MY ROCK... MY FORTRESS... MY DELIVERER... MY SHIELD... MY STRONGHOLD... THE MOST HIGH... GOD MY SAVIOUR. Chris A reminder about the Parish Giving Scheme |
