Thought for the Day by Phil Moon (Vicar) Extraordinary Church Church is simply Extraordinary. Every church is simply Extraordinary. No matter how ordinary, how small, how old (I'm talking about the people, not the building!) how fragile, how 'hopeless-looking', church is simply Extraordinary. What God has done, to create a new humanity, to draw people together who are so different, to bring unity where there would naturally be division, to make us one, to create a whole new worshipping community which transcends time and death, is simply Extraordinary. And that is why we're so excited about getting back together from next Sunday. Yes I know we can't sing yet. Yes I know we're not supposed to interact with people outside our household. Yes I know we can't have coffee, and we'll have to leave as soon as the service is over. And yes I know it's much more convenient to watch in your PJs. But you're missing the point. Church isn't about you - it's not about your (and my) desire to sing, to talk, to drink coffee, nor is it even about our convenience. It's about God, about his glory, about His Extraordinary creation, called the church. And you can see them, in the flesh, on Sunday. You can greet them, smile together, you can learn from the word of God (much less distracting than watching at home!) and you can be amazed afresh at this miracle which is.... US. Eph 3:21 "...to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!" (my italics) Phil World Day of PrayerDo you know where Vanuatu is? Discover by tuning into the annual service (WDPIC You Tube) next Friday, March 5 at 10.30am, prepared by the Christian women of Vanuatu. Service booklets can be obtained from the church office but we need to know numbers by Wednesday. Please email the church office if you’d like to collect one, [email protected]. It’ll be a great blessing.
