Thought for the Day by Simon James-Morse (Minister of Goldstone Church)Keep on Growing
2 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. 3 John 1:2-4 John’s third letter is not the first time he mentioned his joy at seeing God’s people progressing and walking in truth of the Gospel. He wrote similar things in his second letter as well. However, simply saying that we are Christians or even saying “we believe” is not enough. Even demons believe, but they are not saved (see James 2:19). A genuine, changed heart that is following Jesus is seen in the way that we live our daily lives, the way we speak to and about others, the way we handle troubles and disappointment, the way that we stand up for Truth, and the way we set our priorities in life. Walking in truth is more than simply agreeing with the Bible; it is loving God’s Word and His ways – irrespective of how unpopular that truth may be with those around us. Yet, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we will be able to stand firm and live lives that honour Jesus. Dear Lord, I am so grateful that You don’t leave me on my own, but that You give me everything I need for life and godliness. Help me to remember to constantly call out to You, so that I can honour You with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind, and all of my strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
